4. HEAD in the News
--------------------------------------
Megan Watzke, Press Officer

Since the writing of the last HEAD Newsletter, the missions in the high-energy realm have been active in garnering attention from the press and public. At the summer AAS meeting in Boston, a spectacular new view of the Carina Nebula from Chandra was unveiled. The HEAD meeting in Newport saw the well-deserved Schramm prize for excellence in journalism covering our field go to Dennis Overbye of the New York Times.

The press releases listed below are just a small sample of the large number of press and image releases issued by the HEAD missions in the past half-year. The topics represent the wide range of high-energy astrophysics - from planets to pulsars - that engage the general public. These releases, which also demonstrate how HEAD missions are used in conjunction with other space- and ground-based telescopes, resulted in significant press coverage both in traditional outlets as well as online outlets and social media.
